Nevermind the fact that people actually lined up for ten days in an Apple store just to get their hands on an iPhone 6. The very first person in line to get an iPhone 6 even dropped it live on television out of sheer excitement. Here are some of the most outrageous and interesting facts that proves people will do anything for Apple’s newest phone.
The iPhone 6 is better than a girlfriend.
According to an article from Metro UK, seventeen percent of single men out there would rather get themselves an iPhone 6 than a girlfriend. “If it came down to a choice between going on a date or queuing for the iPhone, the mobile would win every time,” they said. As for men who are in a relationship, two percent of them would swap out their significant others just for a piece of their very own iPhone 6, while three percent admitted that they were more intimate with the popular phone compared to their girlfriend. Whatever t is they do with their phones, we really don’t want to know.
Pants are being tailored just so the big phone can fit in people’s pockets.
Remember the #BendGate scandal? Yes, the internet was abuzz with the controversy of the bending of the iPhone, so much so that all other competitors like Samsung, HTC, and LG (and even food companies like Pringles and KitKat) decided to ride on the publicity by creating their own taglines about bending. And because the China Unicorn branch in Shanghai and Amsterdam’s KPN don’t want the phone to bend in their pockets, these two companies actually hired tailors to customize pants just so the iPhone 6 Plus can fit nice and snug in pockets without bending or breaking.
Even multibillion dollar conglomerates are riding on the iPhone 6 fame.
In Chicago and New York, McDonald’s decided to hand out apple slices and baked apple pies to customers waiting in line to purchase the iPhone 6. McDonald’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hary said that “They’d been waiting in line so long, they were sure glad to see us.” That’s an incredible PR move right there.
The iPhone 6 has become a proposal gimmick.
Still, some people are apparently not too keen on the phone. When a man from China used 99 iPhone 6’s to propose to his girlfriend, he got rejected in public. He placed all 99 of the phones on the ground to form a heart, and it cost him two years’ salary worth about $82,000. It was just not enough to get a girl to marry him. But then again, with all the customers clamoring to get their hands on an iPhone 6, he can pretty much sell those 99 phones for a profit, right?
