The Cast Before Game of Thrones
They may known for strutting about Westeros like it’s nobody’s business now, but these actors and actresses led very different lives back then. Before all the fame, fortune, steaming hot sex, and unnecessary character deaths, the cast before Game of Thrones had their own fair share of bit roles and humble beginnings.
Who can forget the stern and courageous face of the queen to Gerard Butler’s king in the epic movie 300? Her strong personality and no-nonsense attitude in the film gave the king of Sparta all the motivation he needed to fight his war. In the sequel, she led the Spartan army to battle as well. Fans must have been extremely shocked to find that her pure heart and noble intentions in the films before Game of Thrones were given a 180-degree turn when she was cast as Cersei Lannister, a scheming and wicked queen who made everybody’s jaw drop with all the incest and the pure evil. Lena Headey knows how to be a badass—villainy sure fits her like a glove.
Natalie Dormer has played host to a number of roles that vary in size, including a strong and seductive agent in Captain America. Before Game of Thrones, however, her first role started in Casanova where she, along with her elaborate gowns and fancy lifestyle, played opposite Heath Ledger. She also proved how sexy, cunning, and deliciously dangerous she can be in The Tudors as one of the king’s wives. She is truly one femme fatale you won’t want to mess with!
Let’s see—charming, good-looking, and has the tanned body of a Greek god? Where else could Jason Momoa have been cast in before? Yes, what could be more fitting for a Hawaiian actor than to be cast in Baywatch: Hawaii? He also led the helm as the title lead in the reboot Conan The Destroyer, where he showed the world just how heroic he can be. It’s too bad his role had to be cut, but if there’s anything that the series of unexpected deaths of major characters in Game of Thrones has proven, it’s that no character lives forever.

Whatever happened to that sweet and innocent kid that really believed in Christian Bale in Batman Begins? Jack Gleeson is such a sweetheart, but in his role now, he’s just a horrible brat. Still, it’s difficult to remove that cute little face from your mind’s eye once you’ve realized who he was before Game of Thrones.
If you don’t know where Peter Dinklage has been before Game of Thrones, you must be hiding under a rock. After his breakout role in The Station Agent, he also starred in Elf, Death at a Funeral, and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. He also played the famous role of Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Now, he’s finally in a leading role in Game of Thrones, where he’s earned himself in 2011 the Emmy and the Golden Globe Award for Supporting Actor. Good for him!
