So who are the top celebrity tippers in Hollywood?
Not surprisingly, the movie industry has some of the most generous celebrity tippers. And many of them are known for having not just deep pockets but big hearts as well.
So which celebrities leave wait staff not just star struck but extremely grateful for their huge tips?
Here are some of silver screen’s most generous celebrity tippers
They say Bill Murray tips 100% the amount of the tab. But one waiter reported receiving even more—a 120% tip for a $60 check. And that’s not all. The comedian also taught the waiter a neat trick: roll the lemon before slicing it and you’ll get juicier lemon wedges. Bill literally helps out too. One on occasion he hopped behind a bar to assist an exhausted bartender.
While he occasionally gets in trouble, Charlie Sheen is a consistently generous tipper. He once left a waiter a tip in the same amount as the bill, a pretty hefty bill. And that was years before he became a sitcom star. At beauty salons, Charlie tips his hairdresser $100. For his daughter’s sweet sixteen birthday party, he slipped each member of the event staff $200.
What makes David Beckham such an excellent tipper? One particular incident stands out. David and his LA Galaxy teammates were celebrating a win over Manchester United at a pub and they racked up a $100 tab, mostly for beers and snacks. But David (who drank just mineral water) decided to throw in a couple more hundred bucks and paid $1,000, leaving his waitress a $900 tip!
Johnny Deep is by all accounts one of the most generous celebrity tippers. Stories of him leaving $1,000 and $2,000 tips at eateries abound. But the $4,000 tip he gave a waiter at a Chicago steakhouse is his largest on record. The waiter served the actor many times while he was filming “Public Enemies.” On the day of the movie’s premiere, Johnny came back to the restaurant and added $4,000 to his $4,400 bill.
Drew Barrymore is as kind as she appears to be, at least to wait staff. She is said to always double the bill and sometimes tips even more. Actress Ana Ortiz shares that when she was working as a waitress she received 100% tips from Drew.
He may be notorious for his temper, but Russell Crowe sure knows how to leave wait staff in awe with his generosity. When he and his friends stopped by Carew Inn in Tenby, South Wales, the actor was in a good mood and ended up entertaining the crowd by playing the guitar and singing rock songs. To cap it off, he left an almost $1,000 tip.
Jessica Simpson takes the time to show her appreciation for wait staff. At a New York restaurant, Jessica put down a $300 tip on top of a $500 tab. She also wrote a special note for the waitress that read, “You were amazing and make this world a better place.”
Paris Hilton has surprised many with how she takes care of wait staff. Paris reportedly tips drivers, hairdressers and manicurists handsomely. She is also said to be very friendly, greeting everyone.
These tales of generosity are proof that many celebrities also have a heart of gold and just gives us more reasons to admire and love them.
