The battle of the hot bods is never over when you’re in Hollywood. In the star-studded streets of Tinseltown where abs are a-plenty, it’s difficult to choose which bodies are the ones that stand out the most. But these five picks of the best male celebrity bodies no doubt have all the girls drooling.
This once scrawny teenager has grown from being a dancing sensation in High School Musical to being one of the most sought-after hotties in showbiz. Rough and packed with rock-hard pecs, Zac Efron even won the Best Shirtless Performance at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards. “Working out is my biggest hobby,” he says. “It’s my Zen hour. I just zone out.”
Dubbed as “Chan Crawford” during his time as a nightclub stripper before he got famous, this guy not only knows how to bust a serious groove, but he also has a good acting range with a number of films under his belt. These include Step Up, She’s The Man, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Dear John, The Eagle, The Vow, Magic Mike, White House Down, and 21 Jump Street. Of course, it certainly helps that he has a svelte physique fit for a true dancer.
With a sweet face and killer abs, Canadian actor Ryan Gosling is the boyfriend every girl wants to bring home–and show off at the beach. But he wasn’t always like this. As Gosling himself said, “When I was 6, a scrawny, scrawny kid, I’d get in my red speedo and do muscle moves. I actually thought I was muscular. I didn’t know everyone was laughing at me.”
Although “The Notebook” was his breakthrough role, it was on the movie “Crazy, Stupid, Love” that his rockin’ bod stole all the attention. We can’t deny the good genetics there, but Ryan diets and exercises before every role. His personal trainer, Ashley Borden, says that “Ryan’s very consistent, he works hard. Yes, he’s got a very good body.”
It’s hard to believe that such an amazing actor actually has his roots being a former rapper named Marky Mark. Set to star in the upcoming Transformers movie and with one of the best male celebrity bodies to boot, he has certainly come a long way. “Open arms,” he says. “My life has evolved so drastically over the years in every aspect. I embrace it.”
This Australian actor is most known for his role as Thor, but you don’t get to play the god of thunder without having insane biceps and abs that just won’t quit. Being bulked up enough for a Norse god doesn’t come easy. “It was buckets of protein, brown rice, vegetables—I mean really large quantities and I ate regularly, every three hours. It was lots of weightlifting as well, to get the muscle back from playing James Hunt in “Rush”—good old-fashioned Arnold Schwarzenegger bodybuilding stuff,” he says. It was challenging for him to beef up for Thor and then scale down for Rush, but that’s how dedicated he is to maintaining his build.
Of course, no bodylicious list is complete without the legendary bod of Usher. With all his gratuitous shirtless shots and his steaming hot moves on the dance floor, it’s no wonder he is always on the radar for best male celebrity bodies. Cliff Boyce, Usher’s personal trainer, lets us in on Usher’s secret. “To look as good as he does you need to put in the hours. He has his down moments, like everyone, but he stays fully committed and keeps his eyes on the prize. He is in it for the long term and living healthy is a lifestyle for him now. And it’s this attitude that means he is always true to his motto of ‘always be camera ready.’”
